My second book is now available! To learn more about it and purchase a copy, click here. At the book website you will also be able to read the back jacket copy, an excerpt from the first few pages and a comment from Scot McKnight’s Afterword. Credo House Publishers is a division of Credo Communications under the excellent leadership of Tim Beals.
This is my first attempt at fiction and I am told that it is a gripping and provocative story. You be the judge of that. I wrote the book to provoke meaningful conversation about the Bible as both a divine gift and a human creation.
On the book website is a CONTACT tab. I want to hear what you think of the story. My heart-felt thanks to Jeremy Bouma for creating the book’s web site.
I thank Dr. Scot McKnight, Karl A. Olsson Professor of Religious Studies at North Park University, for writing the Afterward, admitting that he is not a huge fan of fiction, but that my book “hooked” him. I appreciate Scot’s comments about the novel.
My first book was Jesus the Pastor: Leading Others in the Character and Power of Christ (Zondervan: 2000).

Congrats to you John (and Julie).
Yes, John, congrats! I’m excited for you and seriously hope your little creation ruffles some feathers and spurs dialogue on this topic of the Bible.
Thanks for writing it!

Ordered it. But I’m not sure the system charged me for shipping. Unless, of course, its free to Canada???
Congratulations. Look forward to reading it.
Hold it — Scot read a novel? This has gotta be good!
Great. Congrats John. Looking forward to getting hooked as I hope will be the case for many other readers.
Scot and Kris,
Thanks for your encouragement!
Jeremy,
Let the conversation begin! Ruffled feathers and all…if there are any

brother maynard,
Can you believe it?! Scot even used the word “hooked.” Let me know if you think it’s a good story.
greg,
You are a truly encouraging brother. Pray that the main point of the story is received well…We not only have a Bible, we *are* the Bible = 2 Cor 3:3.
Checking the mailbox anxiously….
I can’t wait!!

Elisha,
Soon and very soon….

Wonderful John! I look forward to reading your book.
John,
Can’t wait to get my copy and read it! I’m not much into fiction either, but this has me hooked already. Fascinating plot!
jim,
I am eager to hear what you think of the story. Thanks for your interest.
Ted,
I hope is that the story will generate some serious thought about the Bible. That is will be view as more than a “magic book.”
When I asked at the local bookstore, they replied:
“Sir, we don’t carrying out of print books”.
After patiently explaining that it is the title, I learned I would have to order online. Saving my pennies!
Peace,
Jamie
jamie,
that is just TOO funny…hope you enjoy the story!
John,
Looks like a good book – the excerpt hooked me – but it will probably have to wait until Christmas to order, as my book budget is way over – fortunately less than two months away. View of Bible is a big issue – one that confonts me constantly.
John,
It’s a great read and I’m going to be blogging on it soon. Quite thought provoking on definitely one of those reread books!
