Martin Scorsese’s “Shine a Light”

The Rolling Stones
Martin Scorsese’s “Shine a Light,” an IMAX film celebrating The Rolling Stones is absolutely phenomenal! Julie and I had a great time and came away saying that it was better than being at a live concert. With flashbacks to the Stones’ beginnings and concerts and interviews through the years, the film is a 2 hour adrenaline rush. Appearing with the Stones were Buddy Guy, Jack White, and Christina Aguilera. Yet, it seemed like the cameras couldn’t stay off of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.
Filmed at the Beacon Theatre in New York City, the concert/movie is an extraordinary piece of work. Because of Scorsese’s directorial genius in setting up the multiple cameras, the viewers are able to go anywhere on the stage with the band. The film editing by David Tedeschi is Oscar-nominee caliber.
See “Shine a Light” and get some “sa-tis-fact-ion.”

Don’t you just love the stones!!!
I heard that their next tour is going to be nursing homes!
The cameras couldn’t stay off Mick Jagger? C’mon. Mick is energetic, I’ll give him that, but he’s no Sting in the looks department. Mick looks like some sort of mutant Cosmic lizard-man. And those pants he wears? Straight out of the blue-light special pre-teen department.
preacherman,
I don’t know about nursing homes
But they still have loads of energy.
Karen
The lines in Mick and Keith’s faces look like dried up tributaries, but you can’t escape the spell they cast as they get into their zone. The movie was more than a movie; it was an event! Buddy Guy was awesome.
John,
I know.
I would love to see the Eagles live.
preacherman,
Julie and I like Allison Krause and Union Station. We’d love to see her and them live.
Wow.
My wife and I love Allison Krause and Union Station. I love the song Man of Constant Sorrow that they did for the sound track O’Brother Where Art Thou
I bet they sound great live.
I love the fiddle.
Preacherman,
Cool!
Thanks to your post, Carolyn and I got our tickets for the IMAX showing last night. Wow. Memory lane. Non-stop energy from beginning to end. Those interviews… Scorcese found them. Time and again, Charlie, Ronnie, Keith and Mick got asked, “What’s it like?” “Can you keep it going?” And then in 1972, Cavett to Jagger… “Can you picture yourselves doing this at age 60?”
Ha! There he was. Imax sized, at age 63. What’s happened to us?
Ken
Hey, Ken, we are glad you and Carolyn enjoyed the flick. Wasn’t it a great event? And in their 60s, they could still belt it out!
