And I think that ninety-percent of what we think needs to be done doesn't really need to get done. I think we're all a little distracted by the corners of our eyes, to borrow a line from Caedmon's Call. Reading this post, I thought of a scene from Wonder Boys, where Michael Douglas' manuscript for a book he was writing blows away on the wind. And someone asks what the book was about. He says he doesn't know. So then they ask why he was writing the book if he didn't know what it was about. He says, "Because I couldn't stop." That's what I think of Christianity today. We're trying to write this asinine story where we have a nice building, a manicured lawn, where everyone dresses and acts nice and has a good job. And no matter how much preaching and teaching goes on, we keep striving for it because we can't stop. Someone told me once that stuff is the crack cocaine of the middle class.
