It’s a Ukraine Time of the Year

I leave for Ukraine tomorrow and will return in two weeks. Hopefully I’ll get to post a few episodes while in Ukraine. I fly into Kiev and then travel 5 hours west by mini-bus to Lutsk.
My friend, Sasha Savich, has arranged two weeks of training, mentoring, teaching and preaching opportunities in Lutsk and in L’viv. I work with 3 churches in Lutsk—Calvary Church with Sasha, Fimiam Church with Pasha, and God’s Design with Sergei. In L’viv I work with Dima and his congregation Hosanna Church. I will also do some teaching at the Baptist Union college in Lutsk as well as some village work.
As always, I invite you to pray for this ministry excursion. Pray that these young leaders and their aggressive, passionate churches will continue to make a kingdom-of-God impact in their regions.Julie and her mother, Lois, are planning a short trip to Nashville to visit Diane, Julie’s sister and her family.
P.S. It is not “the” Ukraine. It is Ukraine. We don’t say “I’m going to ‘the’ England or ‘the’ Germany.” So, don’t say, “John is ‘the’ Ukraine.” I am in Ukraine.

Godspeed
RJS,
Thanks, brother. I ask for your prayers.
John,
Just got your book today, and I dont’ want to put it down. Great read and great story. And it really makes me think, as I spend alot of time in the word, maybe even too much in comparison to the balance of the rest of my life.
Blessings on you and the work in the Ukraine!
…and will be praying.
Ted,
Thanks for your prayers for the ministry trip to Ukraine. I am pleased to reasd that you are liking OUT OF PRINT: A NOVEL. I hope it generates a whole lot of conversation about the Bible.
John, Walt M. told me you were in Ukraine. I envy you — having spent six weeks in that marvelous country. Your meeting me on campus for coffee and advice before my trip was help. I also hear good things about your new novel and Walt will lend me it over the Christmas break. In the Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom, as you may know, we include prayer “for those who travel by land, sea and air.” I suspect at least you qualify in two categories.
Bob Marko,
So glad to hear from you. I enjoyed Ukraine so much this time. God bless!
