Help me out…
Mar 7th, 2008 by John
Help me out in word-crafting the following statement. Imagine it’s the beginning of a clay sculpture or the beginning of a watercolor painting. Think artistically.
A Jesus Community is…
a community who share the life of (the Trinitarian) God together for the sake of others.
Have at it!

A Jesus Community is…
a community who is nuts about Jesus, Papa and the Holy Spirit and cannot help giving their experience of God away.
abmo,
All righty then…you’ve got us off to a great start…
“nuts about Jesus, Papa, and Spirit…” Got to love it!
A Jesus Community is…
a circle of people who have joined the dance of Life among the Father, Son, and Spirit; spilling love and joy onto all who witness the beauty of this life.
Grace,
I like the dance metaphor (perichoretic dance of the Trinity)…and the verb “spilling” —there’s something full and wild about it…Thanks!
I am no poet, but here’s a shot:
A Jesus community is…
A community which has heard the whispers of the Father’s voice, felt the gentle caress of the creators Breath, has kissed the feet of the crucified Son, and now listens; “As the Father has sent me… so I send you.”
I think it is such a blessing that I can call God “Abba Father” and I can love the Holy Spirit as a mother. More than community. Family! You and I are both blessed to be apart this wonderful family of a God loves us more than we can begin to fathom, the Holy Spirit who comforts us right when we need it and Jesus our brother who is ready share everything heavely with us. Amazing Love.
Wes,
I like your imagery and the clear call to mission in the John quote.
Thanks.
Preacherman Kinney,
Your words struck me “…and I can love the Holy Spirit as a mother.” What a provocative thought! Thank you, Brother.
A Jesus Community is…
a community that feasts with God - Father, Son, and Holy Ghost - for the sustenance of others.
I shouldn’t have posted this while I’m hungry.
Watchman,
Yummy! I like the feast (banquet?) imagery and being sustenance for others. The “Bread of Life” idea. Thanks so much!
A Jesus Community
Ever present Eternal Son,
We the living temple of that crucified one
Almighty Father Holy, Divine
By His Spirit feeds in Bread and Wine
A transubstantiated people
For the Life of the World poured out
Fr Matt,
Beautiful. Thank you for posting it here.
A Jesus Community is…
The body of Christ.
People being “Jesus with skin on” to each other.
An ever present God, pouring His Holy Spirit over all of us through each other.
Stephanie,
I like the incarnational emphasis—the church is God “with skin on.” We are truly the “body of Christ” in the world. That is not just a nice picture word. It is true. “As the Father has sent Me into the world, so I send you,” Jesus said. God bless!
