A Little Bit of the “Old West”
Jan 20th, 2008 by John
We went into Ft Worth and watched the “cattle drive” in the old stockyard area of the city. The longhorns were a sight to see being herded by cowboys on horseback. After wandering around in the shops, we went to Risky’s restaurant and had ourselves a Texas-size dinner–I had a 12 oz strip grilled to perfection, baked potato, beans and 2, count ‘em, 2 jalapeno peppers. Ouch!
We experienced a little of the “old West” for an evening. Sylvie was as cute as could be, and Julie took a picture of Jackson and Trevor sitting on the back of a huge longhorn. Leah took the boys through the “Amazing Maze” that was featured on the TV show “Amazing Race.” Lois and Diane were with us so it was a fun family afternoon and evening.
This morning we went to “Fellowship of the Parks” church with Leah and Andy and family. It was a vibrant church with a great praise band and a warm and practical message from Pastor Charles. We’re hanging out today around the house and watching the NFL playoff games.
